Vision BioSciences began with a perspective shaped by the clinic. Founded and led by a retina specialist, the company was built firsthand experience treating patients with geographic atrophy--- watching as central vision gradually declines, often with limited options beyond slowing the inevitable. That gap raised a simple but important question: Why are we only trying to slow vision loss, instead of restoring it?
At the center of this disease is the failure of retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) cells, and Vision BioSciences was founded on the belief that restoring the health and function of these cells could change the course of disease. What started as clinical insight has become a focused scientific strategy--developing gene therapies designed to reverse cell damage of aged and stressed RPE cells, improve their resilience, and better support the retina.
As a small, purpose-driven team, we are building this company around a single goal: to move beyond managing decline and toward therapies that can restore function and meaningfully improve how patients experience vision loss.
